The Complete Umrah Packing Guide
The news has arrived—your visa is approved, your tickets are booked, and the blessed journey of Umrah is just around the corner! The excitement is building, but so is the familiar question: “What do I need to pack?”
Packing for Umrah is more than just packing for a holiday; it’s preparing for a spiritual experience of a lifetime. Forgetting a crucial item can cause unnecessary stress, distracting you from what truly matters.
That’s why we’ve created this ultimate, comprehensive packing list. As we’re now in October 2025, it’s the perfect time for those in Pakistan and around the world to plan their spiritual retreat for the upcoming cooler months. Consider this your definitive guide to ensure you’re prepared for every moment of your pilgrimage.
And just as this list prepares you for what to pack in your suitcase, umrah.cab prepares you for a seamless journey on the ground in Saudi Arabia, ensuring your peace of mind from the moment you land.
1. Essential Documents & Finances
This is the most critical category. Keep these items in your hand luggage.
- Passport & Visa: Ensure your passport has at least six months of validity. Keep printouts and digital copies.
- Tickets & Vouchers: Airline tickets and hotel booking confirmations.
- Identification: Your Pakistani CNIC or other national ID.
- Photographs: A few extra passport-sized photos can be useful.
- Vaccination Certificates: Carry any required health certificates (e.g., for meningitis).
Money:
- Saudi Riyals (SAR): Carry enough cash for immediate expenses like food or a SIM card upon arrival.
- Credit/Debit Cards: Inform your bank about your travel plans to avoid any issues.
- Emergency Contacts: A list of contact numbers for family and your travel agent.
2. Ihram & Modest Clothing
Your attire is central to the pilgrimage.
For Men:
- Ihram Garments: At least two sets of two unstitched white cloths. One set to wear, and a spare in case the first gets dirty.
- Ihram Belt/Pouch: Essential for securely holding your money, phone, and documents.
- Umrah-Compliant Footwear: Open sandals or slippers that leave the ankles and the top of the foot exposed.
For Women:
- Abayas: 2-3 comfortable, breathable abayas. Black is common, but any modest colour is fine.
- Hijabs/Scarves: Pack several that are easy to manage and provide good coverage.
- Hijab Accessories: Under-scarves, and hijab magnets or safety pins are a must.
General Clothing for Both:
- Comfortable Outfits: 2-3 sets of modest, loose-fitting clothes for your time in Makkah and Madinah outside of Ihram.
- Light Sweater or Shawl: The Grand Mosques are heavily air-conditioned, and nights can be cool, especially between November and February.
- Sleepwear & Undergarments.
- Socks: Useful for walking on the cool marble floors of the Haram.
3. Health & Toiletries (The Unscented Rule!)
Remember, while in Ihram, all scented products are forbidden.
For Ihram (Unscented):
- Soap/Body Wash
- Shampoo
- Deodorant
- Wet Wipes
- Petroleum Jelly: Highly recommended to prevent chafing on the legs from walking.
General First-Aid & Toiletries:
- Personal Medications: Pack enough for your entire trip, along with their prescriptions.
- Sunscreen (Unscented for Ihram).
- Moisturiser & Lip Balm.
- Toothbrush, Toothpaste, and Miswak.
- Small Scissors/Nail Clippers: For trimming hair/nails to exit the state of Ihram.
4. Spiritual & Practical Items
These items will enhance your journey and add convenience.
- Pocket Qur’an & Dua Book: Having a personal copy is invaluable.
