Jannat al-Baqi Graveyard (The Garden of Heaven)
Final Resting Place of the Prophet’s Family and Companions
Located beside the eastern walls of Masjid an-Nabawi, Jannat al-Baqi is one of the most sacred sites in Islam and the most blessed burial ground in Madinah. Within its serene enclosure rest thousands of the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) closest family members (Ahl al-Bayt), noble companions (Sahaba), and devoted believers who illuminated the earliest chapters of Islam.
To stand before this revered ground is to feel the weight of history and the nearness of faith itself. Every prayer offered here is a reflection on sacrifice, devotion, and the eternal bond between the Ummah and those who first carried the light of Islam. It is a place of humility, remembrance, and deep spiritual connection where hearts soften, and souls are reminded of the life beyond this world.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Visiting Hours & Strict Etiquette
A visit to Jannat al-Baqi is a profoundly spiritual act that requires adherence to specific rules to maintain its sanctity. Please be aware of the following:

The Visiting Experience: A Lesson in Humility
The Sunnah for a male visitor is to:
- Enter calmly and with humility.
- Proceed a short way inside, face the graves, and give the general greeting of Peace as taught by the Prophet (PBUH): “Peace be upon you, O dwellers of the homes of the believers and the Muslims. We will, if Allah wills, join you. We ask Allah for well-being for ourselves and for you.”
- Make a silent, heartfelt Dua for the forgiveness of all the inhabitants of Baqi and for all deceased Muslims.
The visit is not about identifying specific graves but about absorbing the profound spiritual atmosphere and reflecting on one’s own mortality and the Day of Judgment.
